Introduction, Research and Title

RESEARCH

For my coursework, I decided to make the opening sequence for a psychological horror movie, because these always seem to be in demand and have a large target audience, as anyone from 15-16 onwards to people my dad’s age (48)seem to enjoy them.

To get an idea of the genre, I watched the openings of movies like Secret Window and The Eye, and then went onto watch other ex-AS media students’ horror movie openings. I then took the key features, codes and conventions from these and made notes.
I then went through the collection of copyright free music on the student area, choosing music that suited the genre and would add atmosphere to my piece, comparing to music from opening scenes I had watched.

I chose to go for a murder based psychological horror, using flashbacks during the intro. Having been influenced by Secret Window, with Johnny Depp, I decided to do an opening scene involving an opening scene in a car and an internal monologue.

I decided to work alone because it means I have more control over what happens, how the film looks and what shots are included, as well as angles, sound effects and cast used.

The film will be called Our Little Angel.

  1. As usual you have great ideas, Georgina and follow your usual creativity. However, you do need to complete the research in advance of your filming - there needs to be evidence and a completed storyboard before yo begin filming.
